Worship Preview 7.23.23 Walking Together: Celebrating Native American Ministries
This Weekend: “Walking Together: Celebrating Native American Ministries” Scriptures: Romans 8:12-25 and Matthew 13:24-30, 36-43. Guest Speaker Courtney Freeman Fowler (Mvskoke-Creek).
This Sunday, we welcome Courtney Freeman Fowler to the pulpit at First United Methodist. Fowler is the former Lay Leader for the Great Plains United Methodist Conference, and she will be celebrating the current work and ministries of the Oklahoma Indian Mission Conference, which has several native congregations in Kansas and Nebraska, as well as the Great Plains Council on Native American Ministries. We will collect the annual Native American Sunday special offering, which supports the development and strengthening of Native American ministries in the annual conferences, Native American rural, urban, reservation ministries, and communities relating to the General Board of Global Ministries, as well as scholarships for developing indigenous leaders. Pastor Christopher Eshelman decided to schedule our offering and Ms. Fowler’s message, to piggyback off the wonderful Wahzhazhe Osage Ballet, hosted by Friends of the Fort, this past Thursday and Friday. We look forward to learning more about how we walk together with this part of our connection.
