Welcome, Thanks for checking out First UMC!

You'll find jeans & t-shirts mixed with suits & ties – wear what you have and come as you are! We put the words on the screen but there's a printed bulletin to follow along with as well.

You'll hear piano, organ and the occasional trumpet or guitar accompaniment too. We'll have a choir anthem and usually 3-4 congregational hymns; most of which come from our hymnals, which you'll find in the pews, or you can follow the lyrics on screen.

Our preaching is rooted in scripture, tradition, experience and reason, and applied to daily life in 2022. Our Pastor, Rev. Christopher Eshelman, illustrates the sermon with art, photos, and the occasional video clip.

Children are welcome in worship.

We have activity bags to help keep them engaged - and we have a nursery available in the education wing if that's a better option for your family.

As United Methodists, we understand that it is Christ who invites us to the table, and so all are welcome to partake in Holy Communion, which is generally held the first Sunday of the month.

Curious about something else? Check the About Us page or drop us a note using the contact form below and we'll be happy to share more.

We look forward to getting to know you!

We are located at 301 S. National in downtown Fort Scott, KS. On Sundays, you can park free in the lot behind the building, along 3rd street and National, or in the bank lot across the street.
