Worship Preview 4.28.24

First United Methodist Church

This Sunday: 10:30am – “Beloved Children Abide in Him and Be Fruitful With Lay Speaker Marve Ralston preaching.

Scriptures –  1 John 4:7-21 and  John 15:1-8

Abide. Dwell. Connect. Gather. Through this season of Easter we have heard the call to rest in and be equipped by God revealed in the risen Christ. This Sunday, Pastor Christopher is taking some time for rest and renewal with his family and we are blessed to have Lay Speaker Marve Ralston with us to proclaim, as 1 John’s reading says, that “God is Love” and to explore the metaphor Christ uses of the Vine.

Marve serves the UMC as our Five Rivers District Administrative Assistant. In addition to being a Certified Lay Speaker. Marve is the mother of three grown children, grandmother to five grandchildren ages 4-20, and has been married to her husband Lonnie for 43 years. They live in Baldwin City. Marve’ has been studying to become a Certified Lay Minister since 2019 and passed the final interview last November for initial certification. She loves to camp, watch any sport or program her grandchildren are in, chase after their two Australian Shepherds and Weimaraner, relax with her cat Scotchie, and hang out with family and friends. High on her list of favorite things is visiting, sharing God’s Word, and Worshipping with our district local churches.

You are invited to connect with us on Sunday and explore the next steps on your journey. You don’t have to have it all figured out, bring your questions, doubts and hopes as we worship and seek to bear good fruit as we follow Christ together!
