Worship Preview 10.15.23 Therefore: Responding & Rejoicing!

First United Methodist Church

This Weekend: “Therefore, Responding & Rejoicing” Scriptures: 1 Peter 1:3-9 and 13-25, Ephesians 1:15-23. Rev. Christopher Eshelman preaching.

Sunday will be a celebration at First United Methodist! We will welcome new members and reaffirm the core of our Christian faith and Wesleyan heritage. As we do so, we will hear readings from the early church that talk about living out our faith. Our call is to become like Christ, which we can do not by ourselves or our will but because of God’s grace. To become and be holy is to dwell in Christ, to rely on Christ, to live with faith and hope with obedience, knowing that suffering and even death do not have the final word.

For ‘All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls, but the word of the Lord endures for ever.’

Many members of our congregation, community and, of course, the world have been having a difficult time of late. We are reminded that we do not journey through this life alone and that God can make a way, even when there seems to be no way. As we seek peace and justice, that work necessarily begins within ourselves. We respond to God’s grace and we rejoice!

No matter where you are on your own journey of faith, you are invited to join in worship and celebration at 10:30am at 301 S.
