Worship Preview for March 5th - Lent 2
This Weekend: Sunday at 10:30am “From Above”
Scriptures: Genesis 12:1-9, Psalm 121, Romans 4:1-3,13-17 and John 3:1-17 – with Rev. Christopher Eshelman preaching.
We continue our Lenten journey. This week the lectionary texts tell us of Abraham’s faithful response, celebrate trust in God, and we will explore all of that through the intriguing story of Nicodemus, a pharisee and leader of Israel coming to Jesus in secret, at night. He has questions and a fairly humerous misunderstanding, based on a play on Greek words, invites us to ponder our own response to Jesus.
As we continue our “Leaning Towards the Light” this story – along with one that is in many ways it’s opposite next week, invite us to go deeper on our own journey. As we said on Ash Wednesday, remember you are dust, remember what God can do with dust. Repent and believe the Gospel!
No matter where you are on your own journey of faith, you are invited to join in worship and celebration at 10:30am at 301 S. National, coming just as you are, with your questions, doubts and hopes - and to experience the transformative, healing love and grace of Christ - which makes us whole. Visit www.firstumcfsks.org/newvisitors for more information on what to expect.
