Pastor Christopher and Robin are taking his mom and her parents to see their grandchild again this weekend (and his folks) and celebrate their youngest son's new coaching job. He will continue his "Heart of the Matter" series on prayer with a focus on the history and meaning of the doxology the rest of July, but this week we have a special guest.

Dr. Brianne Ford, Ph.D., RN, serves as Youth Director at Hamilton Chapel United Methodist Church in Parsons, Ks and is a certified candidate for ministry in the United Methodist Church, discerning a call to ordained deacon ministry in the far future. She holds degrees in nursing from the University of Missouri–Columbia and the University of Iowa, where she also completed post-doctoral studies. In addition to her ministry work, Dr. Ford serves as the lead instructor for Delores Homes Training Center, Inc., a nonprofit healthcare training organization in Pittsburg, Ks, offering CNA and CMA courses. She also founded Vikings Dance and Color Guard, a free performing arts program serving youth in Parsons, Kansas. She is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Christian Ministry at St. Paul School of Theology, where she continues to integrate her passions for faith, education, healthcare, and community service.

She will share a sermon exploring our connections to one another using the book of Philemon - a letter from Paul to it's namesake pleading for a new relationship with Onesemus. It will be a wonderful exploration of community and connection.

COMMUNION NEXT WEEK – since Pastor is out of town and Dr. Ford is not yet authorized to preside, we will hold our monthly communion service on July 12th – and Pastor Christopher will share some history about how the “first Sunday” came to be an American Methodist tradition (and why John Wesley would likely have been bothered by that).

Blessings on your journey.
